I erroneously posted this in the V6 section...

I have a Ford racing x pipe linked up to Roush Axle backs on my 2015 GT held together with the stainless steel dragon clamps that came with the X pipe to marry the two at both connections.

Just recently I installed some eibach sportlines so keeping the exhaust up is critical to avoid scraping. After adjusting the orientation and pushing the exhaust up closer to the body I was able to tighten it down and it held for a few weeks until i saw the one exhaust tip was lower than the other.

I had measured them for alignment/eveness during the original adjustment from the bottom of the ground to the top of the tip and it came to 13.5". After settling and driving for a few weeks the right side one was at 12.5" and and the left was 13.0".

Im guessing due to the slightly rougher ride it's jostling the connection and causing it to slightly slump as it was not a problem on OEM springs. I'm not a big fan of welding due to the potential of frying electronics, and quite frankly I don't know what needs to happen to ensure a shop doesnt damage my car.

Are there any alternatives? Potentially using steel clamps instead of stainless steel? Different bolts? Clamps?

Thanks

Any clamped connections should be loosened again, propped up in their correct alignment and tightened while still propped up.

Use a torque wrench to tighten the clamps properly. It takes quite a bit of wrenching. Then re-torque two more times after a little driving.

Also if the clamps are stainless be sure to use a tread protecter to prevent galling

Thanks for the tips. I'll try to reset them again.

For those saying welding, I agree it is the optimal approach but the con of potentially damaging the car's electrical interfaces due to operator error is keeping me back. For those with welding experience or knowledge of the topic, what should be done to ensure the car is grounded and this wont occur?

Disconnect the negative battery cable prior to welding on anything attached to a car.
