I know some of this has been covered under previous posts, but I'd like to have an after market exhaust and headers. However, I've read that to get your monies worth and to not have a CEL, a tune is required. Would the new Ford Performance Packs fall into this category or is a custom tune necessary?

Assuming O/R headers, a CEL would come on. If you didn't want the CEL and did not want to get a tune, then just use foulers.

You would need a custom tune. You would throw a CEL if you don't have one. The Ford Performance Tune will not turn off your rear O2 sensor. I believe that is what causes the CEL to come on.

As others mentioned if you run LT's or remove the cats you will throw a CEL without a tune.

If you have any questions or would like to purchase a Lund Racing tune please feel free to give us a call. We're Lund Racing's largest dealer and here to assist you.

Thanks, Jared

Lund disabled the P0420 and P0430 CEL codes associated with the cats from registering and kept my rear O2's on. All my readiness monitors for the cats are set as ready so I am good for emissions.
