Okay so got the Exedy flywheel, Throwout bearing and clutch kit for 2017 mustang gt mounted everything up the alignment key goes in. I feel like it’s lined up but when looking at it, it has more space on one side then the other on the clutch itself. When trying to stab the transmission in it doesn’t go all the way in there’s about an inch gap from it completely closing and when I looked inside the trans the Throwout bearing was already touching the pressure plate. Trans is in neutral

Was the alignment key installed into the clutch disk before torquing down the pressure plate? Did you clean up the alignment dowels ? How were the dowels reinstalled?

Either the input shaft is not mating properly with the clutch assembly (which may not be the case since you said the key still slips in) or the bellhousing is getting jammed on the alignment dowels preventing it from fully mating.

Also it is critical that the TOB was bench bleed before assembly so just wanted to double check that was done. TOB contacting the pressure plate is normal. It will compress slightly once installed.

Another thought... You mentioned 'stabbing' the transmission in... It shouldn't take much force and in fact it should be a slow delicate process... Line up the trans, give it a twist back and forth while also applying slight pressure. It should slip right in.

okay so I ended up taking everything back on made sure the dowel pins were correct and cleaned up. Put everything back together and the trans slid right in. I did bench bleed the TOB but when sliding the trans in I didn’t have it connected so it did squirt some fluid out and idk if that’s why but I’ve had to pump my clutch twice after turning car off and coming back after a little. Not sure what could be going on there

Yeah it will take a few days for all the air to work it's way out. You could expedite the process by vacuum bleeding the reservoir.
