When I picked the car up, I asked the service manager if I needed to sign any paperwork, he said it was taken care of. I went and spoke with the mechanic on all that had to be done with the installment. His first words were, I had to tell Ford there was no tune and of course download rpm and speed from the computer when the engine let go. Considering I was probably at 55 - 60 mph at part throttle getting up to speed then I'm guessing that would benefit better than wot at 6,500 rpm's. I'm not close with the service manager or mechanic, they were very cordial and had some good laughs about it. I am friends with the ownership, so it is more than likely their discretion of the warranty factor, they did coordinate with my tuner and order all the aftermarket parts from him to be built in the loan. I would say my circumstance is probably the exception to most, but I am from a small community where the majority of the town either knows you or related.
What's that?

It's great he got it replaced and no doubt lots of other ppl including myself would accept a replacement engine if given. But keep the hookups to yourself.

We have a dealer doing the right thing by finding the tune did not cause the damage and somehow fraud is being committed? Tune does not mean automatic payment if engine failure happens. Who is the say the dealer did not inspect the issue and come to that determination? PJB does not know what happened behind those bay doors.

@PJB has already said he is not out doing donuts in Walmart parking lot and acting like a general jerk with the car. The guys at his dealer know him... I grew up in a town like he describes... trust me, they would know if he drove his car like an idiot. For me this was a good call by an honest dealer. No more no less.

Please, leave it alone... :(

PJB, appreciate you taking time to explain your story and posting the pics...
Jesus Christ Jmat, the OP has already stated that the dealership lied to Ford in order to have Ford foot the bill. This is FRAUD for fuck sake. Tuned EB's are blowing up left and right, not stock engines, TUNED fucking engines. When a tuned engine grenades it is impossible to determine what the cause was and THEREFORE dealerships will almost always void the warranty if a tune is present.

Take you own advise and leave it alone.

I miss the old days when I use to drop my my SRT-4 off on slicks and nitrous bottle still connected for axle replacement and no one gave two shits including the dealer. Nowadays you have random people who this doesn't directly affect at all getting butthurt like you just clubbed a baby seal to death lol. Welp that's enough internet for me today. Hope everyone has a great Saturday afternoon :)

You tell 'em Slow89!! I am surprised this thread isn't locked yet. The only strange thing about this entire episode is the OP's car is a 2016. If I remember correctly Adam said that not a single 2016 has blown up, only 2015's. So this is strange.

Anyway, can we get back to our original programming and deal only in facts and not innuendos, speculation and insults.

Thanks all.

Seems our current political climate mirrors this comment completely.

I missed that part. Still, you seem to have a very unhealthy fixation on this thread. :(

Oh, well... I think you should report all of them. I would, if I were not happy for the OP.

My last post here... thanks again OP... sorry this thread turned into a sht show.

 you too eh? I remember taking a buddy of mine's SRT to Beech Bend, hearing a popping noise, then driving an hour home with a car that wobbled like crazy at highway speeds. Finally dawned on us that one of the bearings had popped on an axle, so we dropped it off at the dealership with the slicks in the trunk, dial in and numbers still on the windows, and got the axle replaced under warranty. Hell, the transmission was also replaced under warranty at 70k miles when the open diff (stupid '03) decided to disassemble itself during a highway pull after many miles of drag racing. And my SRT-4 swapped '02 never had a single issue somehow, and still runs around Indiana to this very day

Those were the days...

Lmfao I was reading thinking, wtf do I know you? Then I read Indiana

I shattered my 3rd gear synchro street racing it spraying a 100 shot on it. Towed it to dodge. Parked the car in overnight service. Dropped the keys in the drop box with it filled out "transmission work needed" hahaha

I have a stock Ecoboost and mine has rough idle after I fill the tank up as well!

Sometimes it goes down to ~700 RPM, vibrates a little - but it gets better a few seconds later. Is this what you guys are describing? I almost always have this after I fill up all the way.

I was thinking it was the fuel pump.
this is a classic symptom of the octane being "tested" by the ECU. I hated the feeling of a new car idling like this, until I realized what it was doing.

Is this something that tuners disable?

He could be over exaggerating the hook up anyway. You're not going to pull much wool over a service manager or ford agent by replacing an entire engine. You're talking 7k engine with 2-3 days of labor at the shop. You can kiss your job good bye if you did that by lying to your manager or by omitting info.

A lot of people had their engine replaced by a tune-friendly dealership without the hookup.

Thanks for the comments, I never intended to start a thread that would go south after trying to tell a story and yes, I do not know the cause, I am only giving what I think happened. We may never know what the problem was but if I could be of some help to someone on here that is all I was looking to accomplish.

Hey you didn't do anything wrong and 90% of us appreciate the insight you provided by sharing. The other 10% just wanta talk about engines blowing up and are petrified to mod their cars bc of it. It's easier to just troll them or ignore. :ninja:
