Hey guys,

Checking in with a quick question for those who have assembled blocks. I got a gen 2 shortblock here waiting to replace my gen 1 and after checking bores, it seems one cylinder is almost 0.005-0.006" out of round near the top of the bore.

All bores measured within 1.5-thou of each other, except the vertical measurement on this specific cylinder. This bore hit 3.636 vertically but all other bores are round 3.6305-3.632.

What would be people's opinions on running this vs boring it (ik the sleeved coyotes are limited to a 0.010 overbore). Sleeves feel like an unneeded cost when I do not plan on going over 1k whp, but I do intend on 8-9000 RPM depending on how comfortable the tuner is with it, so I will be getting pistons and rods. The block will be under boost from a 2.3 TVS

Obviously a whole new gen3 block with 12mm ARP studs is cheaper than sleeving. If the journals also need line honing, I'll get a new block, but haven't measured those yet.

Any opinions would be great. Leaning towards boring but concerned about the strength of the sleeve if I'm going towards the upper limit. A few have told me to send it, but ofc these are opinions of people who have had their own builds blow.

Thanks!

Are you measuring it with a torque plate?
I am not, I know a torque plate is desirable for extremely accurate readings for when the block is actually under torque from the heads, but with or without a torque plate, around 5 thou out of round seems a bit ridiculous.
