As outside temperatures have begun to rise, my driver's side door mirror has developed this occasional behavior where it operates itself in the up or down adjustment direction. And, it starts to skip because it tries to go beyond the maximum adjustment range. It has done this both getting out of the car and getting in the car with the ignition off. Eventually, it stops and returns to the saved position.

Has anyone else seen this?

I had this happen twice during the first few weeks of ownership and it freaked me out, lol. I got in my car and closed the door and noticed both mirrors moved all the way up and out. I hadn't even started the car yet but I watched both mirrors moving at the same time. I started the car and waited today see if the mirrors moved back to the correct position but they did not. I had to press the memory setting button for them to go back to the proper position. It happened once more a few weeks later when I got in the car in the morning and hasn't happened again since. It'a been four months since it happened.

Yes I have seen this problem. Happens right after unlocking the doors. The mirror moves all the way out and starts popping like it wants to keep going out but can't. I was actually at the dealership today but this problem so rarely happens. He ran some tests but there were no error codes. I've had all three presets set the same for a long time. Still occasionally happens though.

Has anyone ever had this issue diagnosed? I wonder if there is a TSB on this issue?

I'm so disgruntled about taking my car in to have them look into these issues that I've all but given up on Ford. This issue has happened about every two weeks for the last year. I have gone so far as resetting everything and it still occurs.

At first mine did that exact movement. all the way out until I take control of it. Now its both sides at random and now they also go up or down. It seems to be completely random.

There is nothing cooler than showing your car off to someone, only to open the door and the mirrors go crazy.

When I originally took my car in for the cooled seat issue and the mirrors I showed them a video. The guy said "that's strange", check for faults and found none. Said he couldn't do anything if there was no fault. The very next day it happened again.

Then I learned about a month ago nothing I went in for that day was ever reported to anyone. It was as if I was never at the dealer that day.

These links are old but it's a known issue with other ford vehicles and TSB's exist with this same issue. No idea why its so hard for a dealer to simply do some sort of overall database search for TSB's and say "HEY, This is the same issue... Lets try something similar to fix the issue instead of not trying anything.

I happened to catch mine on video just as my service adviser was walking up. They are trying to follow the same logic that the Explorer problems had. I am scheduled to have a new door switch installed first. Here is my video if it will help anyone ...

This has happened to me 3 times. Each time it was after my wife drove the car and tried to set the memory setting back to my setting. I'm keeping an eye on it. No plans to take it in unless it does it again.
