The EB sounds somewhat similar to my 85.5 SVO Mustang I had back in the day.

I personally have a 11 v6 with a roush exhaust..getting my intake/tuner combo delivered tm. I was thinking about an ecoboost, but the sound has turned me away. I get about 25-27mpg average on my car depending on cali traffic.

Sorry that engine does not make the sounds a Mustan should make.
Says Who? Tell that to the owner of a 64-66 170 cubic inch Inline Six Cylinder or a 67-68 200 Cubic Inch Inline Six. That's the Beauty of the Mustang. It can be many Things to many people.

It didn't sound like that from the factory.
Trust me I learned to drive a Stick/Manual in a 64 Falcon 170 Cubic Inch Inline 6 which was Identical to the Mustang's and it sounded Nothing like that. This is a little closer to how it sounded, but even this has a Flowmaster Muffler on it.

LOL. why would anyone buy a mustang to have good gas mileage

Maybe not "good" gas mileage, but maybe decent gas mileage. For me, the EB model made a Mustang an option for a new car. It's 2014, not 1964; I couldn't justify getting a car that only got gas mileage in the mid-teens.

Honestly, I wouldn't be looking at the Mustang if it didn't have the EB or IRS. As blasphemous as it sounds, the V8 just doesn't interest me... I love the surge of a forced inducted engine. Also, having tuning companies that I'm already familiar with supporting the EB helps as well.

I'll admit it doesn't sound as good, but for me it's all about how it drives. I'll put earplugs on if it's that bad :p

not sure what the year has to do with what kind of car I would want. Gas isn't really THAT expensive. You'll save maybe a couple thousand a year on gas :/ meh

In ’64 the Mustang got about 12-14mpg. It's been 50 years, our cars should be much more efficient by now.

There's more to how much fuel you use than just how much it costs you personally each year. It's personal preference, for sure. For me, it made it easier to place an order for the car I adored as a little kid knowing it wasn't going to be a pump sucker.

My 5.0 sounded pretty tame with the stock exhaust also so that's not a great example. Just adding GT500 axlebacks made a world of difference. I guarantee this motor will sound aggressive with some of these options: catless/larger exhaust piping/aftermarket mufflers/resonators. Here's a little 1.6 EcoBoost with slightly larger 2.5" exhaust w/ muffler resonator delete: [ame]

I'm really, really torn between the EcoBoost and the GT. On one hand, I could buy a EB Premium with the performance package and all the options I want for about 31k, but it would be missing the V8 burble that makes the Mustang so special. Or for about three grand more, I could get a base GT that makes the right noises, but the seats would be cloth, and it would have the crap center stack.

Anyway, for now I've decided to wait till I've test driven both cars and we'll see then :-)
