Definitely not going to be DD friendly with 2618. Any plans to make 4032 variant?
Actually, quite a few of our WR holders are daily drivers! And they run our forged piston designs.

I say not DD friendly because the clearances required for 2618 cause a knocking on cold start which is annoying they require a different approach when DD the vehicle to get any type of longevity out of them. This approach requires waiting for a vehicle to get warmed up till the piston expands enough to stop knocking and they really need to be up to temp before any load can be put on them. You can DD with these types of pistons it isn't impossible but I never could get more than 34k miles out of a set of 2618 pistons where I was able to get over 60k miles out of 4032 without sacrificing any performance comparatively . all on 4cylinder engines on 2 different platforms ranging from 450whp Subaru to over 500whp Mazda 3.

The benefit of 2618 doesn't start to shine till you reach high power levels upwards of what you are rating these for 800hp, Which isn't going to be your average motor build nor average street car. Most people will have lower power goals in mind but their goals will still be higher than what the factory specs can handle which is still remain to be seen but this is the usual trend with any platform. There will be a few to push the envelope that would justify these type of pistons. But for most it will be just a dream.

In the end it boils down to personal preference. For me after having multiple engines with these types of pistons the best one and most DD friendly I have had so far was my 4032 Start it up, let the needle move light loading while getting up to temp no problems. I could drive the thing like it came off the showroom floor and get some decent longevity for a built engine.

Totally get what you're saying, but like you hinted most guys won't be dropping these into a stock motor. The majority of clients that choose these for their vehicle will be running our Pro Series shortblock engine.

PS which is coming soon
