Hello everyone,
So, this isn't referring to any particular vehicle apart from the S550. Just a general question regarding the driving habits, most concerning the manual cars and their clutch.
After having 3 S197 cars, I bought my first S550 back in the spring. Loved the car, damn near all the things I wish the 197 cars had the S550 has nailed down. That is until it comes to the clutch/pedal.
Just wanting to ask and get some feedback about the clutch bite point on these cars. The bite point on a S550 is so insanely high it was misérable to drive (IMO). Compared to the 197 cars, which release/bite so much lower towards the bottom of the pedals travel that is. I went as far as purchasing a Mcleod, thinking maybe my stock clutch was trashed, it surely felt better but the bite point was still towards the top. I've even test drove 2 additional mustangs and the feeling were the same.
Was there any particular reason Ford designed the S550 clutches to release so high on the pedal? It just made driving feel unnatural, I get that this will go over some folks heads but I am dying to know why these awesome cars have such a terrible clutch feel.
