So how much drivetrain loss do you typically see with the manual Ecoboost? How much difference is there to the AT? Has anyone actually measured it?

I am wondering because every post that I read about it has a different number.

Typical is around 15%. Livernois noted in their testing they were seeing more around 18% in some cases, although I think that was testing on auto's mostly which is what they used for their test mule.

I know they do have a manual shop car as well, but most of their published tests were on the auto like most tuners. Manuals should be a bit lower losses as there's no converter, but it's not going to be huge, maybe a couple percent at most.

General rule of thumb is 15%, give or take. The only way to really know would be to dyno the engine at the crank on an engine dyno and then run it on a wheel dyno, but even then there's equipment error which may skew results a bit.

Like TheLion said, the general rule of thumb is 15% for most cars, but I've seen a few sources say that 18% is pretty accurate for an auto EBM. I'd probably have to agree with Livernois on that one.

Thanks guys, 15% sounds pretty reasonable. I've been reading numbers around 10% and that sounded way off.
