Good Lord, another tire question that I was hoping I wouldn't have to ask but it is what it is.

The car is a 17 MT with a Whipple. 3.31 rear end, 10.5 rims currently running a Nitto NT555 G2 305/30r20

Not a DD, it's a fun car that I enjoy hitting the mountain twisties but also not afraid to take on a couple hundred mile trip. I'll probably do between 5-8k miles in 2023.

My issue is that the G2 tires came on the car when I purchased it, brand new and have had them for approx 20k miles. Tread is still good on them but this spring/summer I want a new rear set. As it is right now, at lower elevation. (I'm at 5k feet), I can spin 3rd up to 100mph even rolling into it which is "cool" if I'm trying to show off to someone in the car but everything else about it sucks.

The Nitto R2 DR is likely the route I'll go if and when it's available but my concern is the cornering aspect of things, as DR's are designed for straight line traction. I recognize that my low sidewall aspect ratio will limit the overall effectiveness of that straight line traction but what is the experience with using a DR for enjoyable curves?
