There is a sleeve with two bolts to marry these two pipes. On the side of the sleeve is a...guide(?) slider(?) track(?) What is that 3" long steel bar called anyway? And what's it for?

Anyway - what I'd like to know is this:
Can the sleeve be removed? And is it smooth inside? or does it have a ring or a step against which the two pipes butt?

My issue is that my CBE needs to be shifted forward about 3", and I'm wondering if there's any more room inside that sleeve. As far as I can tell I have inserted it as far as it will go (about 1.75") but it's difficult to determine how deeply the aft end of the DP is inserted!

(Wow - I realized I had better get in here to update this thread before it gets any more replies!! Sheesh!)

I ended up opening the band clamp completely...and was pleased to be able to see that indeed the front end of the CBE is fully inserted to butt against the rear end of the DP.

The sleeve also has a little clip that tells you when its all the way in (on the stock exhaust).

If that 3" piece is round on one side like a half moon, flat on the other that's to fit in between the nuts and the clamp to give you a flat surface for the nut. Otherwise the nut would secure crooked
