Downpipe to resonator pipe

Seems to be a debate on on where restrictions are on exhaust. I want my stock, maybe switch to GT mufflers.
If I use a 3" catted downpipe would it make sense to have muffler shop make a 3" pipe from down pipe connection to housing of resonator.

Then there would be no more restriction
