When I was buying the GT the sales team were pushing the "should hold it's value pretty well" bit.Got the GAP call from them yesterday saying car will lose 60% in 2-3 years and will be worth £16k so must buy GAP from them.....don't you just love 'em.I hope he is wrong...

Well, both are salesmen aren't they.

Mustang Sales Team want to sell you a car, and therefore will try and ease the money by telling you it'll hold value
GAP Insurance team want to sell you the insurance, and therefore will over extenuate the value of the car in 3 years time by under valuing it.

Just typical mediocre sales tactics - telling you what they think you want to hear.

It's been mentioned before but your regular insurer may include GAP-type cover for the first year of the car's life. Aviva does, though I may well get some GAP insurance after that.

Yes I checked yesterday and I get 1 yr new car replacement inc theft and my cause(apparently some insurers exclude those).Regarding yr 2/3 Gap insurance the dealer suggested act soon as you can't later. He also suggested every other Mustang customer took it.....now I think about it he did have a rather long nose;)

I need to confirm with Aviva that the GAP works for PCP deals as they have restrictions on ownership etc. I got a quote from a couple of people and playing ala off against another with their beat by 20% deal means I should get the 4 year cover for about £180 which I want to defer to end of year 1. Can also be bought any time during year 1.
