I always tell folk at work that mine is probably the most fuel efficient car in the car park ,they look at me confused . I say I get 25mpg commuting to work in a 5.0lt and you only get 50mpg out of your 1.0lt so surely yours is 5 times smaller but only get twice as much mpg now that’s not very efficient is it. Mustang for the win

My 1.3 N/A petrol engine with 4cyls - 27mpg in the winter, 35mpg everywhere else, 40mpg drafting a truck for miles on end on the motorway. That’s “a sensible car”.

My 2.0 turbo Focus ST - 27mpg in the winter, 32mpg in the summer, 37mpg on the motorway. That’s a “senbile fun car”

My 5.0 V8 Mustang - 25mpg in the winter, 29mpg in the summer, 35+mpg on the motorway. “I bet that DRINKS fuel like it’s going out of fashion!”

Can’t win.

It shows just how far modern engine technology has come. A similar size engine in a 60’s Mustang is far worse on fuel and has a much lower power output compared to the Coyote. I’m just concerned that the big capacity V8 is going to die in favour of downsizing when in fact it’s not all that much worse, it’ll be politics and mis-understanding that kill it off.

yes i think large capacity multi cylinder engines will only be for "supercars" way things are going everything will be a 3 cylinder turbo!
