does my windscreen need changing?

its the size of a matchstick head, ive looked on auto glass and it seems to say its ok
there are one or two parts to this chip

the black bit is the outer portion of the crack, (looks black in picture, light scuffing)

I had a big chip in my previous car, right in the drivers view, you can get Autoglass to fill it. Ultimately I didn't replace the windscreen until a rock caused a separate 3ft crack.

It’s out of view of my main sight . It’s just the excess cost I guess

If it is inside the wipers swept area it can be up to 1cm. The only issue is if the crack extends. Repair would minimise the risk of this, which can be done by any windscreen company (sometimes FOC depending on insurer)or even using a DIY kit. I've used the kits and they make a reasonable job if you follow the instructions carefully

If its size is between a match head & 5p coin it should be repairable. If its within the wiper swept area it may be an MOT fail. You want to avoid a screen replacement as these days they a bonded in as part of the structure & have sensors that would need recalibrating so dont put off a repair.
