My son-in-law is one of the engineers on the Hurricane (in-line twin turbo 6) for the Charger. He had one of the cars over on Thanksgiving, he's working on the tuning calibration right now. This was a 2 door, good looking car. He said it is the HO version, planned for 550 HP, but was quite a ways below that because he had the boost turned down quite a bit. He said that the data he was pulling shows it needed more work so he wasn't ready to turn the boost up yet and was going back to the dyno for some more adjustments and then continued drive ability testing. Pretty heavy car though, something like 5,500 lbs - lot of room inside though and comfortable Recaro type seats up front that were power and heated (but didn't have a Recaro label on them)
Hello; A couple of thoughts. This likely will be another new configuration of a tradirtional model which for personal reasons will strike it from my list of cars to consider. Two examples are the Porsche Cayman and the BMW 3 series. For personal reasons I will not consider a turbo 4 cylinder to replace the BMW straight six or the Porsche boxter style six cylinder engine. I have been promised the turbo four bangers in both cars is just as good or even better than the old engines.
Does not matter to me. The BMW needs a stright six and the Porsche needs a traditional flat six.
For me the Charger, like a Mustang, needs a V8.
I have had both GM & Ford straight sixes in trucks and they were fine engines. The new dodge six may be a fine engine. I can even see having one in a pickup. Just not in a Charger. I may well be in a minority on this view.
