I'm installing a set of new front speakers (tweeter + door speaker) on a 2016 base model. The speaker set came with a crossover. Do I need to install the crossover somewhere in the existing wiring? Or does the base stereo sort the frequencies itself?

In this thread, some members said the Shaker speaker crossovers were in the amp itself, but the tweeter had a capacitor to take the frequency higher. If that's the same on the base model, do I need to retain the capacitors?

I'm a bit confused as to how to install all this properly, so any advice is appreciated. :)

If you're using the existing wiring, probably not. Personally I'd use the crossovers with the new speakers and run new wiring to the speakers and tweaters myself, but that's just me. Some aftermarket crossovers are adjustable so you can dial it in a bit better to what you like.
