Diode Dynamics DRL Wiring..

Hey guys. So I really suck at electrical stuff. But here's my question. In the process of installing the DD DRL boards, and I'm wondering about the wiring. It seems as though the instructions has it set up automatically turn on and off with the car. Which is cool. But I want to to know if there is a way to wire it to come on and off with the car automatically, and also be able to turn them back on when the car is off for meets or shows.

I'm assuming I can take one power wire and tap into the DRL wire on the headlight, and take the other and tap into a source that has power when the car is off? But then I think if the other source has power when it's off, they won't auto turn off.

Anybody have any words of wisdom? Much appreciated.

I think you're on the right track, but you need to be careful that you turn them off when youre done or you will kill your battery.

If you take the hot wire for the DRL's and send it 12V they should come on. Run a pair of wires to the cockpit so you can hook them up to a switch. Not knowing how they actually hook up, you may want to install a diode in there to prevent your new toggle switch from back feeding and turning on other things when you dont want that...

Well, I was right about my guess. Having it wired to both the drl and a constant source prevents it from automatically shutting off with the car... It looks like its gonna have to be one or the other.

Thats correct... but again, you could switch it from the interior.
