I have been looking at the other 2019 chassis numbers and none look anything like mine.. Pretty much all I have seen start with a "K"; however, my chassis number is PP0008. Any idea why mine is so different?

The letters coordinate with years. Appears you have a 2020 chassis with a 2019VIN and Engine? Pull the coil cover and look for the sticker on the engine if it has K or P. Haven't heard of this before.

Yours is a pilot production car thus it has the PP designation. Basically it is a pre-production car that they send down the line to work out final kinks in production before regular production begins. Very few of these are done, and fewer hit the market to the general public.

Very interesting. How is Ford allowed to sell these as production ready cars if there could be kinks and how do they end up at a dealer?

They have complete VIN numbers so they can be registered. Some make it to the public, some are in use at driving schools, and some get crushed I believe.

It's definitely a more limited ownership group. I think it's a good thing. Pretty sure I was looking at your car but you got to it before I did.

Was it in KY?

I had planned on picking up a 16" that morning but it sold before I got there. I decided to pull the trigger on this one and am glad I did.

I was looking at one in Michigan which was PP0007 which I missed, and then PP0008. I was looking on Autotrader, so I can't remember which dealer, but when I called, they had both been sold. Then I found the '17 that I ended up with a couple of hundred miles away from me in Texas, so I jumped on it.

You are correct that this vehicle is a Pilot Production vehicle but can tell you that production volumes for each model year varies a great deal.

Here are the Pre-Production volume numbers for the last 4 years with respect to the GT350/R's.

2015 - 0
2016 - 95
2017 - 21
2018 - 21
2019 - Unknown at this time

I have attached some pictures for some of the Boss 302 cars that I had owned with the production numbers for those 2 years as follows.

2012 - 12 - Includes 4 Laguna Seca's and 8 Regular Boss 302's - PP0001 to PP0012
2013 - 8 Laguna Seca's - PP001 to PP008
14 Regular Boss 302's - PP0001 to PP0014

As you can see Ford has a tendency to jump around a bit with respect to how they assign PP chassis numbers for each individual model year and have a tendency to release these PP cars more in some years than others.

In the case of the 2012 Boss 302's only the first 6 cars were released of the 12 cars built with "PP0003" being a Competition Orange Boss 302 that toured most of Canada back in 2011.

During the 2012 Boss 302 MY Ford had 4 separate pre-production chassis series namely VP, TT, PP and MP and it seems that during some years the TT and MP cars are not used whereas those designations are used quite regularly with a launch of a new model.

Typically Ford releases these PP cars at random with most of them going to Manheim Auto Auctions in the Detroit/Carleton area and I believe take place every Wednesday with individuals with dealer licenses only allowed to attend.

What is the build date of this car and has the owner done an Oasis Report on this car as of yet?

Once the 2019 production numbers are finally released you will have an idea as to how rare your PP car is in relation to the total production numbers.
