Just documenting here in case it helps someone else down the road (I saw one other mention of the symptom from last fall, but no follow up).
Since I picked up the new 15 3 weeks ago I noticed just when looking at the gauges one tire was dropping some pressure. Just to check I inflated it back to match the others about 2 weeks ago and yesterday noticed it was down 10 lbs again. Looks like it was a VERY slow leak at about 1lb a day or so.
After inspecting it in the driveway I took it to the dealer for what I assumed would be nail removal. They were great as expected and very accommodating for a walk in issue on the day before a holiday weekend. After checking it out they said that the bead edge on the tire was defective (showed me a photo of the inside of the tire off the rim with a long peel coming off) and they would order me a new tire under warranty (1000 miles on them) for installation in a week or so.
Pzero rant: Years ago my wife's then new focus came with Pirelli Scorpions and I swore I wouldn't get Pirellis again (they cupped, they chopped, they only lasted 20k miles) and now I'm counting the days until I can get some Pilot Super Sports on (just can't afford to toss new tires now). I guess the Pirellis are ok on performance it just seems like they sacrifice everything else for it with such a soft compound.
Takeaways:
- If you have an issue with tires, get it to the dealer ASAP for documentation and warranty
- Koons For Sterling not only great on price, but service as well (as I already knew)
- Worth looking at all the little gauges and "playing" with a new car to get to know it well
- Had a bum tire and still didn't need a spare (re: war in another thread over spare vs no spare)
