Deer attack! Quarter Panel repair options?

No, the rear quarter is just that, a rear quarter.

It runs from the taillight area up til just past the rear of the door. $900 or so retail.

Incorrect. An aftermarket panel would have to be welded in at the top of the door and boondo would have to be used anyway.

That's correct. Rear quart's gonna need bondo either way, just a mater of location. when you wield that piece back in, you gotta bondo all the seems and such. But its much better than a blob of bondo all in one area.

Since I'm having the right rear quarter panel replaced on Ruby, can you briefly tell me how you guys join the new panel to the existing panel? I believe they'll cut it where the factory joined them together, correct? And then weld the new one to the existing one?

How do you guys finish that seam where they're welded together? I'm assuming if joined together well and welded properly, the seam can be ground and sanded down so very little filler is needed to get the surface ready for painting.

Just curious. Thanks for any thoughts that you might have.

They'll cut the panel off, reattach the new one, spot weld it, blend/bondo/filler it together.

They'll probably cut the new panel at the rear of the quarter window, so they don't have to mess with the door opening, and just mate it up to the body. No biggie. :cheers: And you're exactly right with how they mate the two panels up. Any decent body guy knows how to work with sheet metal/body panels first and foremost. The last body shop I managed guys would rather FIX the panels on the car than replace them, just need to find a decent body shop. Shouldn't be that big of a repair, at all. :cheers:

They're certified to repair high end cars such as Bentleys, Jags, etc. They're the best I could find here in Central Texas and I'm feeling good about them.

Excellent! I'm sure they will get you taken care of bud. :cheers: Always good to take the car to higher end shops like that, because they will have higher standards than other shops.
