You'll need to purchase a new decklid. If you remove the GT badge off of the stock decklid it will leave holes. I recommend purchasing the Ford racing decklid. Good luck.

do I just rip the old one off and stick the new one on? do I need to take apart the trunk?

I suggest looking up the CJPP video. Straightforward and simple replacement.

You need to remove the rear decklid panel first. The factory badge has four plastic pins that protrude through the panel that are heat flattened on the back to retain them. You just need to cut off the flattened platic on the back of the panel with a sharp knife. I used a drill with a largish bit to just cut into the plastic pins from the back a little bit and then flicked the plastic off with a knife. The stock badge then just lifts off, it has no tape on it. The replacement badges usually have the locating pins and double sided tape. Just push it on and it's done. Refit the panel.
Panel on and off is about ten minutes, badge change is about the same.
