After giving up company cars and getting a new job much closer to home I wanted go for something impractical with big displacement. Was looking at Audi RS cars etc either new or 2nd hand when I saw an RHD mustang was coming to the UK. Decided to keep taking the bus until I could see one before ordering. Whilst waiting to see one I nearly ordered a Camaro but decided the LHD would be too awkward where I am and go.

Come to ordering day and I had just got back from holiday. The father in law popped over to see us and asked if I had been to see the demo car in Peterborough that had been there while we were away. I knew nothing about it so jumped in the car and went to have a look. Once I saw it I was sold. I originally had wanted magnetic but seeing a yellow with black wheels sold me on exactly that spec.

For engine it was always V8. I grew up across the pond and dad had a number of American v8s including a Pontiac trans am we brought with us to the uk in 1990. As for gearbox I prefer a manual to an older auto. If I could have got a new auto I might have so when I get another in 3 years I might change go auto.

I'm not a fan of convertible 4 seaters in the uk so fastback it was.

My deposit whilst researched was an absolute impulse. I didn't plan to order until 2016 but ended up going for it in August 2015. I has taken hard work and some creative financing to get me to a point where I can afford to buy it easily too as I am in the process of trying to get a bigger house at the same time!

My decision centred around the interior......
I don't like black interiors, the ceramic is ok, but I was concerned that the light colour would get grubby... And I genuinly really liked the saddle.....

So that then limited me to Guard, Black, magnetic, or white, as they were the only 4 options with saddle....

Black was out due to requiring to much upkeep to keep it looking tip top, Magnetic was out because I'm not a fan of Grey, so then I was down to Guard or white... although I liked the White I dismissed it because it's everywhere..... So that left me with guard....:D

I wanted a coupe, so that was easy..... I don't do a high mileage so V8. Then it was Auto or Manual?? A knee replacement meant that an Auto would be easier..... So that was it..

Guard
V8 Coupe
Auto
Saddle..

Andy,

Guard & Saddle was my choice too, pretty much for the same reasons as you, I'm not a fan of black leather, so it was down to those you mention, I've had grey and black sports cars and now i have a crappy white vauxhall.

Loved the green tinge to guard and thought saddle looked the most classy interior.
unfortunately through guard being discontinued I've had to re-like another colour..ive spent hours and hours trawling all colours in all different light situations and have discounted Triple yellow after talking to my dealer, Ruby Red was the 1st colour i'd seen in a photo a year or so ago.

I've never had a red car...so Ruby it is, however, I've have to suck up to the fact i will have to go to the black interior, even though ceramic would be my preference. i have a 3 year old and a wife that will see to it that ceramic turns a different colour!

Ruby is a great colour, much better in real-life than the configurator photos suggest. I really like the black interior too, but would have been tempted by saddle if I'd gone for Guard (particularly if the whole seat had been that colour rather than just the facings).

The remaining colour option (wheels) was easy - not really a fan of the silver/chrome custom pack ones, and even less so of the chrome around the windows, so not paying extra to get something I didn't like was a quick decision!

I've been struggling with colour etc too. I have ordered Magnetic with Saddle leather V8 auto with custom pack (silver will brighten it up). Would have really considered guard if still available but as not still not totally sure. I have weeks maybe until build date given (ordered 3/3/16) delivery Oct/Nov?
As for lightening blue. Who is brave enough to order it without having a clue what it looks like??!!
Ruby red is nice but my wife reckons it looks a bit like an old Jag colour.

Magnetic the safe choice for me.

A lot of impulse buys, like myself.
Was looking at transits, somehow ended up ordering dib v8 coupe all the extras, no custom pack.

I think the ruby red is an awesome colour with the black wheels looks stylish yet pretty mean!
The guard makes me think of the iconic mustang in Bullitt which is also pretty cool!
It is annoying why ford limited the leather colour options to certain paint colours. Would have gone with saddle too on the ignot sliver. Only option for me was going with the black.

I'm still not quite sure what led me to put down a deposit on a Mustang to be honest !

I've never had any interest in American cars at all, let alone Mustangs.
Me and my youngest two went to Florida for the first time towards the end of last year on one of those flights/villa/car hire/park tickets type holiday.

As we were crossing the service road between the arrivals lounge and the car hire place a bright yellow Bumblebee Camaro burbled by and both my kids said they could tell by the look on my face we'd be upgrading the hire car !

So we chose a V6 Dodge Challenger for the two weeks and I absolutely loved it, everything about it.
It's been a long time since I actually enjoyed driving a car so much and it got me thinking...

I actually hated having to it back, I'd grown really attached to it over the holiday.
It must have been fate that a few weeks after coming home I saw a huge billboard advertising the new RHD Mustang and you can guess the rest !

I should probably whisper it but if Dodge ever bought the Challenger out over here in rhd I'd be banging on the Ford showroom door demanding my deposit back ! ;)

I also love the lines of the Challenger - looks proper old school to me - and during an online rant about 6-8 months ago I suggested I may go looking for an importer due to the complete and utter lack of information coming from Ford. This was never gonna happen as I've been waiting on the Mustang half my life but regardless one of the guys on the Europe forum - an American in Germany - popped up to advise of the world of pain that comes with Dodge ownership.
