I wish you didn't need front plates in Texas.
Have driven in Texas for 20 years without a front plate. Have never been harassed about it once.

I know it's being enforced in some areas of Texas more than others. Houston and San Antonio I think are getting more serious about it than in the Dallas area where I live.

That being said, I will probably get a Hide-The-Plate for my 2015...

will they be annoyed if I ask them not to install any accessories (mats/locks) or remove plastic or do anything to the car without me being there?
Depends on the dealer. Most won't care on higher end models.

Hmmm, Hide-The-Plate, huh. Things I never knew existed.

Is there a fear of clipping it on a curb or something?

I can hear it now, "Oh, I'm sorry officer, I must have forgotten to flip up my license plate."

Make sure you have strict NO TOUCH orders on your new ride. Do not let them do anything.

+1

I just bought a 2014 suv and was adamant that they did nothing to my vehicle. They looked at me like I had three heads, but did as I asked. Better yet get a hands off policy in writing. Yea I want a snot nosed lot boy running my new car thru a car wash and who knows what else.

Its just the nature of the job. Look at it like this. They guy has at least a few dozen cars to clean that day. Using the same materials on every car, like sponges and towels. So not only is he moving quickly to get to the next car, he's wiping your car with the same towels he wiped the last 10 or more.

I'm just pickier than that, which is why I like to unwrap my own car. With fresh, clean materials.

Good to know...I guess I never really thought about it. Until recently I had never bought a new car but will be taking this advice in mind if/when I get mine (waiting on SVT).
