Anyone with a thinkware F750 experiencing issues with restarting after turning the car off for a short period of time? I like the camera, but I stopped to get a drink from a servo before heading home today, and it didn't turn back on after starting the car. Which was a bummer, I really wanted to pull the footage, had a good run with an evo

Has happened at a few meets too, turn the car on for a short time so people can hear the exhaust, then I get back in later and the camera doesn't automatically turn on

I had that when my wiring was the wrong way round. parking mode didn't work either, all fine when I swapped cables around. I have a feeling they were incorrectly labelled.

Installed my Street Guardian SG9665GC today. I originally ordered from dashcamownersaus.com.au a year ago for my old car and it worked well there. The current model http://dashcamownersaus.com.au/product/street-guardian-sg9665gc-full-hd-gps-dvr/ looks the same but now comes with 64GB card included (mine originally came with a 32GB card).

This dash cam is very small and discreet and the supplied power cable is long enough to make it all the way to the 12v outlet in the console/armrest of the stang. Installation went well as the headliner had plenty of room for the power cable and the other trim/weatherstrip was flexible.

They don't last forever, especially in a high use application like a dash cam. The Sandisk one in my Blackvue has started to become a little unreliable. Few weeks ago I had to format it as it refused to allow anything to be written. Last week I found it only recorded half of Mon. I had a close call with a moron who decided undertaking in a single lane was a good idea and the camera didn't catch it.

Check and replace your dashcam cards frequently IMO.

"Regularly format memory card for data integrity".

:frusty:
That thing is so annoying, it goes off way too often. Thanks for the link to the card though, now that I've finally figured out parking mode after switching the fuses around, I think I'll upgrade from my 64gb

so i picked up my GT today (squee). i'm about to pull the trigger on a dashcam and i know its a split between the blackvue 650s or the thinkware F770. i'm leaning towards the blackvue just because its smaller in size therefore more discrete. but the thinkware has better image quality. eh i dunno. any suggestions???

Also i'm looking at getting a GPS/GSM tracker too. anyone have any suggestions other than a $30 ebay special?

As you are no doubt aware, the Thinkware has full HD cameras front and rear, whilst the Blackvue has full HD for the front cam only.

Having said that, the image quality on the 2-channel systems is not as good as many of the single channel options due to processing demands.

The top of the line Street Guardian (a single channel offering), for example, has a noticeably superior image quality than the front camera on my Thinkware F770.

My greatest fear, in this day and age of serial texters/Bookfacers, is getting rear ended by someone who later denies liability - hence my decision to go with the 2-channel system despite the reduction in image quality. Parking mode was also important to me.

Re dashcam I have the Thinkware F770 and am very happy with it. No operating issues. I chose it over the Blackvue primarily on image quality.

Re GPS tracker, I considered the $30 special, but instead went with the Pinpoint TRK130. It works well, and is very easy to conceal up inside the driver side dash. It does more than I need re tracking and driver behavior. It uses Telstra network. The mobile app is good.

I didn't install myself, rather sourced and installed via the Car Kit Company

Anyone with Thinkware system (F750) have issues with the iPhone app? Mine has never worked correctly & Thinkware are saying there's no issue. I've had the same issue since I had an iPhone 6S Plus which originally had IOS 9 on it, still had the same issue when it was upgraded to iOS 10, now I have an iPhone 7 plus with iOS 10.1 and it still has the same issue.
The app opens and the majority of the functions work (live view, settings) however if I try to view or download any of the recorded videos it just immediately crashes. This means when I want to look at footage I have to take the memory card out and plug it into my laptop/pc every time.

This is one of the factors that attracted me initially (I'm using a DR500GW currently). I don't understand why everyone makes their cameras so large and/or includes an LCD screen

That said, the image quality is not great (maybe it's improved a bit on the newer models). I just replaced my dodgy SD card tonight with a new one so reviewed the footage from this week. I knew I'd caught a cop going straight from a left turn only lane and using a bus only lane earlier in the week but despite them being in the lane right next to me, with me at a standstill and them passing at 20 - 30km/h I can't be certain of the number plate. That's not good.

When the Mustang arrives I intend to have front and rear cameras. Not sure if that'll mean a 2ch or running 2 single channels. I'm still hoping some 4k dashcams appear over the next several months while I'm waiting as I think that will help with ensuring number plates are clear in the footage.
