Anyone thinking of getting a dashcam for their mustang?

If so which one..

Was considering either Thinkware F750 (2Channel) or Blackvue DR650GW-2CH

Any recommendations / do you know any place in AU that sells or installs.

Appreciate any help. Cheers..

I'm in the U.S. but I just installed a Thinkware on Thursday, haven't had much time with it, but it has the most features of any cam on the market right now. It seems like a great camera.

I have the Blackvue fitted to my wife's car. HD images are great, it records when there's movement near the car when parked and it logs the time of any impact, even bumps occasionally. It connects to an app to make adjustments, the front and rear camera can be played back and upgraded through iPad etc using a wifi connection built into the camera. I bought it from Carbon Car Systems in Blacktown and they charge around $125ish for installation. They had a big discount on blackvue recently.

Did you hardwire it? If so which fuses did you use? I've used 2 & 23 but my parking & motion detection dont work - seems as if it doesnt have continuous power.

So you can make cool youtube videos. :)

I have one in the event I get into an accident. Having recorded proof of what happened beats playing the 'he said, she said game'.

Fuse 2 should give you continuous power. It does for me.

I don't know why my parking mode won't work then, unless my ground isn't correct. I might change that to one of the bolts next to the fuse box attached to the frame.
Have you wrapped wire around the leg of the fuse? I bought mm2 fuse taps but they still don't fit properly so had to go onto the fuse instead.

I didn't use a fuse tap, just wrapped on the fuse leg. I'd try the ground I talk about in the post I linked.

Some have a double use, when parked they can turn on when they detect motion, front and back cameras. If in the event someone damages your car while you are gone you have a chance of identifying them or their car etc :paddle:

Edit:Just saw the above posts already highlighting that. Either way thats what i plan to have installed ..

I'll be getting one when the Mustang arrives, Sydney is just horrendous for traffic accidents.

Haven't really done much research just yet, although http://dashcamownersaus.com.au/shop/ also have some reviews on different products.

Check them out on facebook to see why you need one.

They'd be quite convenient for me; I live out Penrith way. Thanks for the heads up!

Guys, I am not sure how much detail is provided with these fuse taps and I also don't know how much electrical knowledge guys using them have, but just to put this out there.... If you wrap to one side of the fuse you are protected if there is a short, but if you wrap the wire around the live side then there is no fuse protection and you risk a fire should the cable get jammed somewhere and short to ground. Wrapping a wire around the leg of a fuse to get power to run an accessory in a car is fraught with danger, if somewhere down the track the fuse does blow and get replaced and the tap is reinserted the wrong way around and the power gets picked up from the non protected side of the fuse holder it is a disaster waiting to happen.

I would really avoid this sort of way of getting power to run anything, if you don't have the knowledge to pick up power properly, see an auto electrician or a mate that does, but tapping from a fuse if not done right is a recipe for disaster.
