Custom Floating Pony Bracket

Anyone figure out a way to rig up a bracket that might work for the badgeless grille? Dont Feel like paying 80 bucks for something i could probably make for under 5. I saw one guy made them but it requires the latch cover which is 120 itself so kind of defeats the purpose of doing it on a budget lol.
thought about using something like this, bending it then painting it black. thoughts?
