Sorry to hear you curbed your car. By no means am I a professional driver, but I have attended a few track days in my mustang. There is often classroom time before the track sessions, and one thing that is always mentioned is the 100% rule. Imagine your steering inputs, gas and braking all together must never exceed 100%. For example, if you are flooring the gas (100%), the steering wheels should be straight (0%) If you are giving half throttle, then you can safely use 50% steering. The same applies for braking. This is a very safe rule, and of course professional drivers may be able to use more than 100%, but those cases will be rare.
If there are any road courses near where you live, I certainly recommend attending a Novice day to get some instruction in high performance driving. I've been driving for about 24 years, and I learn something new each time I go to the track.
