anyone have a suggestion on what to use to keep it from fading? i'm reluctant to put anything on it because I don't want it to get on my wipers and spread to my windshield ( happened before.. )

Unfortunately, to keep it from fading you will need to apply something to it. I haven't noticed my wipers ever getting far enough down on the windshield to hit the cowling. If you do go with a coating, I'd recommend 303. It does a great job of protecting plastics from UV.

I had an incident where I had a smear on the blade that would not come off, may have been improper application of the plastic restoration I was using -- ill have to give it a try, thanks man!

Mothers Back to Black. Wipe it on, not spray on. There are other brands that do the sam thing, but, I haven't tried them.
