Just wondering if the speed timer (0-60, 0-100 etc) determines speed based on the speedometer, or if it uses the accelerometer data like a G-Tech?
Aaand a question about the lap timer: Ford documentation says it "Calculates average speed based on driver-entered track distance." But I don't see any obvious way to enter a track distance. (Unless it just calculates the distance between every time you press the OK button, using the odometer data over that time interval.)
For the lap timer, I notice that the "average speed" indicated does not necessarily match my expected result; for example if I set my cruise at 60 mph and begin the lap timer, holding that cruise speed, when I end the timer it gives me an average speed that is often considerably different from 60 mph.
Stuff like this keeps me awake at night, wondering how it works...
Edit: also, for the accelerometer, does anyone know what the actual numbers are that correspond to the tic marks and rings on the circle plot? It's annoying that the axes are not marked. At a guess, I think each "mark" is probably increments of 0.25 g, but I'd like to actually know. I have a huge personal problem with gauges and instruments that aren't labeled with actual numbers... but now is not the time for that rant.
