For those of you who road track their cars, DD’s do not reply, is the $400 difference between the MIchelin Pilot Sport 4S and the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 worth spending for the increased performance on wet and dry tracks?

I've had both on the track, the main difference will be lateral grip and feel. The Firestone's almost feel like they're squishing over during hard corners and mid corner bumps. The PS4S's are solid as a rock, no lean at all.

For the street, I think the Firestones are a better value.
For the track, it's all how much you value extra performance. The Michelins are certainly faster. But enough faster to be worth the extra money? That depends on you. But the big problem with the Michelins for the track is that for similar or less money you can get faster NT-01's, RS-4's, RE-71R's, etc.

I was not particularly impressed with the track durability of the MPSS, but I have never run the 4S. But I have heard that the MPSS was a bit better for the track. I currently run the Firestones for the street and NT-01's for the track. If I had to drive on the tires to a far away track, my choice would be RS-4's.
