If you haven't tried it yet, you can connect the car to the internet and create a WiFi hotspot for up to 4 devices.

You can connect Sync to an existing wireless network, like the network in your home, or via a hotspot provided by your phone. You can also connect it to the 'net via a USB cellular broadband key, and via Bluetooth PAN (Personal Area Network). I think the Bluetooth PAN option will be most useful, at least for people whose phone cannot function as a WiFi hotspot. I can't figure out how to connect that way though.

A tutorial:

What does it allow you to do when connected? On my wife's edge we couldn't get it to update or anything over wifi. Thanks!

I think all it's really good for is making the car a WiFi hotspot.

If your phone can already provide that functionality then this doesn't do much for you. If it can't, then if you get Bluetooth PAN working, or you buy a USB cellular broadband key, it could be useful.

I mean... I like this... but I'm not sure what the point of it is unless posted above.

I have messed with it already though. It'd be awesome if Sync could stream videos, etc off of a WiFi device.

I have unlimited data on my Verizon iPhone. When you have that, they disable the phone's hotspot ability.
Maybe this could be a work around if I go via BlueTooth.

On my Verizon Android based phone I use Fox Fi which even with my
grandfathered unlimited plan gives me a wifi hot spot. In fact I am using it
now to post this as I live in a rural area that currently has no broad band
access available. For now this works for me. On my wife's 2014 Edge she
streams internet radio. Works for her.
