As title says, when i shift gears, i feel a clunk. When I'm at a standstill, press in the clutch and put in first gear, i feel and hear a clunk. But when I put it in gear very slowly, nothing. Any ideas? Only mods i have are JLT CAI and tune. Also have the PP with 3.73 gear

I don't think you should have a clunk shifting into 1st from a standstill, or any gear really. Google clutch drag and try to check for that. When in doubt, go back to the dealership and test drive a new car to see if its the same.

Except that we have MT82 transmissions and the clunk is an unfortunate characteristic of the MT82. There's so many threads about the clunk on these forums.

Is not the mt82. Is the Torsen diff on the pp. I had 2015 pp that clunked and thud all,the time. Now I own a 2016 base with 3.55 and have zero clunk and thud. This also happened in my 2013 track pack with 3.73 Torsen.

Nothing to worry about is completely normal and no,damage is being done.

Btw, the new mt82 in the s550 is a solid tranny unlike the older s197 mt82 that grinded.

Really loving my tranny.

his issue may be different, because he is at a standstill, presses the clutch peddle, engages 1st gear and gets a clunk.

Same thing in all the pp cars. Standing still pressing the clutching while putting in it gear will make the clunk and thud.

why would it clunk at that point? Transmission, drive shaft and torsen diff are not moving. Are you referring to after releasing the clutch peddle?

No, it's simply the act of shifting that makes the sound. Doesn't matter if moving or not and clutch is completely pressed down

Let me give you a couple scenarios.

1) if at a red light, and i engage the clutch, and very slowly put it in 1st, nothing happens
2) if I'm daydreaming, staring out the window at god knows what, and the light turns green, i engage the clutch, quickly enter 1st (faster than 1st scenario) and i feel/hear the clunk.
3) while under load, mostly double clutching (just to test this out) nothing happens
4) shifting at about 3500 RPMs, it seems the clunk happens in between shifting gears. If you can picture that.

Nothing seems to be affected by this, and i have read multiple threads on this, but it seems differently than other cases

I can take it to the dealer, but have the JLT CAI and tune, and really don't feel like taking it off and reinstalling the oem intake. I will if i have to. Just want to know if i should be concerned or not.

I don't hear anything other than shift linkage when shifting while not moving. Anything different if you you rev it to 5000 RPM, and shift, while not moving and keeping the clutch peddle pushed in?

If you are moving and get a clunk, that's different.

i get the clunk even while I'm moving. It's hard to explain i guess. It seems to always happen when I press the clutch in, and pull in out of a gear, before going into the next gear.

I'd love if someone was local, south burbs of chicago, to actually witness this with me.

I don't think you should have any clunk when not moving. But we can ignore that for now.

when you are moving, does the clunk happen in every gear or just 1st-2nd?

I suggest you show up at a Ford dealership in something other than your Mustang, and test drive a brand new PP. If its significantly different, then you probably have an issue.
