Well it's taken me long enough but I finally upgraded the exhaust. Again. Installed a killer set of Flowmaster's Outlaws on my GTPP and its killer. So loud. So rude. She grumbles. She roars. Absolutely amazing. But... It sounds like I'm driving the world's loudest helicopter around.

Do you guys have any experience with this? Will it change after break in?

Full setup now is a resonator delete that's turned into true duals, now with the Outlaws.

Tips and suggestions are appreciated!

Yes you need a crossover to get a "choppy" tone. That is what produces that sound. Get an H-pipe installed and it will do the trick. Any small exhaust shop near you can do it for probably $100.

True duals is the loudest setup because nothing is stopping the air flow. On an X or H pipe the air/sound is impeded a bit at the crossover.

And yes, Exhausts usually do mellow a bit with miles put on them, but not a while lot.

I've said this around here for a while- there is loud exhausts and then there is loud-ish exhausts with tone to them. Loud isn't always good just to be loud if it has no tone to it (like the people running zero mufflers and pipes back from the headers) For example, look at the Stainless Works system- not the loudest by decibels (95 vs I think these Outlaws are like 115), but almost unanimously voted sounding the best despite volume. Sometimes the tone of the system makes it sound better overall, louder or softer.

He's trying to get rid of the choppiness.

No, crossovers do not impede exhaust flow. If anything, a properly designed and installed crossover section will increase exhaust scavenging and ultimately, flow.

Right. :)

I got the Flowmasters as a Christmas gift. I had already replaced the resonator with straight pipes - true duals.

I'm trying to reduce the choppiness. I'm wondering if an X pipe will hurt or help.

Why do you think it is running rich?

At cruise you should be around 14.5:1 and at WOT around 12.0:1.

Moisture from the exhaust is coming out dark. It's not just water.

Probably just dust, residual machine oil or the black paint residue from inside of the exhaust mixing with the condensation.

Good to know. Thank you! I'll keep an eye on it over the next few weeks.
