Alright so I have a 2016 Mustang GT with around 16,000 miles on it. A week and a half ago check engline light came on. Took it to dealership they tell me it was from the evap system, they checked everything and it all seemed fine. Told me maybe it was a spider or something in gas tank or just air. Fine, car was driving fine so I took it home. Today the check engine light came back on... Unfortunately everytime it comes on my wife is the one with the car, not sure if this is related lmao  Any advice for when I take it back to the dealership what to say and if there's anything extra I can tell them to look at? I don't want this to keep happening, and bad enough my inspection is due this month also.
Thanks,
Nick.

Hmmm I was curious. Only thing I could dig up from 2012.

"I was having problems with the EVAP system last year. It took 3 or 4 trips to the dealer before they figured out what the problem was. They replace the fuel filler twice before they found that some of the EVAP hoses were laying against the exhaust pipe and had melted causing an opening in the system."

If the dealer doesn't find any obvious issues mechanically, I have to ask if she filled the gas tank up before the CEL came on? I've heard that in some cars that when you try to "top" off the gas after the nozzle clicks off, you know, trying to squeeze an extra half gallon into there, it can sometimes cause this sort of problem... Because of this, I remove the nozzle once it clicks off and I try to break my wife of the habit of the "click, click, click" after the nozzle cuts off... I don't have a reference for this but figured it doesn't hurt to do it this way.

I'm usually the only one to fill up. It was filled up two days ago with 93 (As always) so I'm not sure why two days later it would show up a check engine light. I also usually fill up in Jersey, which means only full service so they don't usually top off. The first time I wasn't really concerned just now that it's happened twice I'm not sure what to think. Def going to bring up EVAP hoses laying on exhaust pipe Thank you Chameleon

Did you happen to get the exact code that it is showing?
That might help with diagnosis since there are several emissions and evap codes.

Could get a smoke test ran to identify any small leaks.

I didn't get it the last time. Wasn't concerned because they downplayed it so much. I can't get to the dealership until midweek maybe I'll take a drive over to AutoZone and get the code read so I can report here and be a little prepared. Annoyed about this, haven't financed a car in awhile and this is reminding me why.
