Charlotte, NC and Surrounding - Tracks?

Hey Everyone -

Wasn't quite sure where to post this, but figured this was as good a spot as any.

I'll be moving to Charlotte part time in the near future and was wondering if anyone had any tracks/local clubs that are recommended? Anything within a 3hr drive is no problem.

If turns are more your thing, there are several tracks in the area that are within (or very near) your travel range: Carolina Motorsports Park, VIR, Atlanta Motorsports Park, Road Atlanta, and Roebling Road Raceway. There may be others, but I haven't had my coffee yet...

Piedmont is another good one 1/8 mile in Julian NC

Gallot motorsports park is a couple hours from Charlotte but by far the best 1/8th mile track. All new facilities and temperature controlled track.

JZilla Track Days does a night event at Charlotte Motor Speedway (the ROVAL). JZilla also hosts HPDE at Road Atlanta, Atlanta Motorsports Park, and other places within a day's drive from Charlotte (takes me 6 hours to get to Charlotte). PM me if you want more info.

Otherwise, many, many, many HPDE groups around here. And you have a zillion drag strips if you want to drive straight and fast.

The three road courses that i recommend for HPDE..
Virginia International Raceway is FANTASTIC, a little over two hours away. Events just about every weekend.

Carolina Motorsports Park is a lot of fun, but the surface is a little rough on Cup II Tires. Less than an hour south of CLT. Events just about every weekend and a few during the week.

The ROVAL at Charlotte Motor Speedway. They do not have many events, but its 15 minutes from CLT.
