I have been looking to purchase the GT500 Hood style from Cervini's website. I was wondering if anyone has purchased a pre-painted hood from there and if so what are you thoughts on the paint job vs getting an un-painted hood and getting it painted?

I've seen and heard of Cervini pre-painted hoods matching quite well...but I think you'd be most interested in knowing from someone with a hood your specific color, as that may be a bit more difficult to match than others. Best wishes on getting a response that really helps with your request.

Hey there! I myself have gotten a couple pre-painted from them and was satisfied for sure. Obviously, painting some OFF of a car; its subject to be off. So, for that reason; I'd suggest a local shop if you think that would bother you.

That said, we'd be happy to get you set up here at Lethal Performance getting one ordered for you!

Feel free to reach out and I'll be glad to help! Thanks! #teamlethal

If they're open to the idea and your gas door matches your fenders perfectly. You could ship your gas door to them for color matching purposes. If the paint system they're using has multiple color chip variants they can at least pick the closest one if they don't or can't tint the color.

I ordered mine prepainted. I should mention that the first one arrived slightly damaged and upon inspection I refused the delivery....so I had to wait a few more weeks for the new one to arrive. It matched perfectly....Race Red.

I can't comment on the quality of a pre-painted hood, but as some have already said, there are sometimes many variants in most colors and it can be a crap-shoot if the pre-painted hood matches your car.

I bought the unpainted hood and I'm glad I did. There were many small imperfections and minor repairs that I made to my new hood before I primed and blocked it for a perfectly smooth final finish after it was painted.

Great point @SHOdaddy68. I purchased Cervini Side Scoops and it took hours to get them ready to paint. When I look at the costs, unpainted versus painted, I can easily see why they charge so much for paint, as parts may look quite raw when purchased unpainted. In hindsight I probably would have been better off buying my side scoops pre-painted, based on the labor and materials I put into getting them installable.

My point on doing it myself is: I'm anal and want it done right. My Cervini hood was great, but there were a lot of small things and detail stuff that needed to be addressed before it was painted. I cleaned up & smoothed out all the raw edges and corrected a few really minor flaws before it was primed and prepped for paint. I can't trust anyone else to address all the small things that will show through once the part is painted. My car is black and it shows every little imperfection.
