I have bee talking to the dealer and it sounds like ordering this car may not be an option. The dealers will get what is given to them. Anyone hear the same.

You don’t want to know
I have been told I can order a 2016 with the equipment I want - hopefully early June. The equipment breakdown for the 2015s already has been decided, but only Santa Claus knows how they will be allocated.

Yes and NO!

A dealer will be given (assuming they registered for the program) an Allocation of X number of cars for the entire model year (MY). Most get 1 or 2 cars. Super size dealers more. Some dealers NONE. 5000 cars, 3000 possible dealers- you do the math.

That allocation will be set for a specific quarter of production spread through the year by "quarters".

The dealer can then order their car (or 2 etc) when their allocation is activated to the specifications they want (provided none of the desired options are not on restraint).

In short your dealer may have allocation for 2 cars. 1 car in the 2nd quarter of production and the other in the 4th quarter. So rushing in for your order doesn't speed up the delivery process.....aka just because your dealer has received an allocation and granted it to you the car doesn't mean you get to order it on day 1.... If your dealer is assigning you the allocation then you should be able to custom order the limited options (color etc). The "Rs" are even more limited--expecting about 500 per year (but I'm not aware of a solid Ford announcement) so good luck with that one.

MOST (but not all) dealers- especially those with 1st quarter allocation will order for stock as they do not know what the market will be--aka how much ADM they can get and thus will order, let the car sit for a bit upon arrrival and see what happens....if it sits too long many will come down closer to MSRP...but I really doubt many will "sit".

I am ordering for customers for the 15's and most of the 16's, I will only order 1 for stock maybe 2. The reality is the greatest options are the colors and which pkg you want. The R is pretty straight forward.

I know my dealer well and its a sure thing. Money not an option. will pay however helps them. But I am a little boggled why he was not sure about picking the options. He was thinking there going to get what ford gives them. He said they were getting 1 for each dealership with a possibility of a second. Really need this thing to become available and stop all the guessing. Just looking to see what other serious buyers have been told. I am sure my dealership will do whatever they can for me.

^This x100

Ordering now may get you no further. The dealership is not going to tell you some guy came in yesterday and pre-ordered a slot with a deposit. They don't even know yet they are only getting 1-2 likely; who knows what they think the word isn't out yet beyond some in the know people here who made it knowledge.

If there are 2 people ahead of you the dealership didn't tell you about since they didn't know it would be an issue, sorry you aint getting a 2016 350 likely.

Or you will have a good chunk of dealerships who will change it into a bidding war to the highest price offer. Out of the people interested in ordering, whoever they can get to pay the highest price will get the first allocation and the rest the next batch. People can say all they want online that money is no option, but are you willing to pay a $20k ADM to beat out the other guy for the first batch of 2016 allocation? There is always dumber people with more money as ADM history has shown- Hellcats, the 1964 LEs many people paid over MSRP for, etc. Unless you own it the dealership is a business and they are going to take the highest payer vs. loyalty to you, especially on such a limited stock vehicle they may get 2 in a year, sorry to burst that bubble.

Or you have dealerships who operate honestly and fairly and take care of their good customers.

With the power of social media customers have a powerful voice. I don't think a dealership will screw over a customer who has made an agreement and placed a deposit for an allocation. The extra money for betraying a deal will not make up for the money lost from the bad publicity.

Would be nice if true but the numbers don't support it. Ford is on pace to sell about 100K 2015 Mustangs, looking at the membership list of this site, which is impressive at 8500, best case 1/3 actually own a 2015. Even if you double the exposure to guests viewing, your are only talking about 5% of owners of 2015 Mustangs visiting this site.

Social media will help the informed buyer, but isn't quite powerful enough to influence dealerships just yet. To be fair, people buying a Gt350 are probably more likely to research the forums, but the dealers will still sell every car allocated to them if they choose to, bad press or not.

Social media goes far beyond the reach of this site. If I had a complaint about a local dealer, this would be one of the last places I'd post it. I'd go first to media based or read primarily in the market where the dealer does business. And if I have something good to say about a dealer, I'd do the same.

Good point, my view of social media was probably too limited. I still doubt that one or two negative comments for how a dealer handled a limited edition (low volume) deal will have much influence on the dealership or the buying public, but I would be happy to be wrong.
