Can algae on convertible roof be removed by detailer ?

Hi - New Potential owner here
I’ve put a deposit on a 2018 convertible, but the roof is in a rough state. The dealer is sending the car to a pro detailer to restore the roof to its original condition . It this possible, or will whatsver is used to clean and restore the colour, may fade after a few months or should it last ?

In this case, he is using his own brand fabric cleaner, agitating with a medium bristle brush and rinsing with water. Use something Like Koch Chemie Pol Star or 303 Convertible Top Cleaner. Then dry with a towel and/or a blower. Once completely dry, apply a fabric protectant, again 303 make a good product for this. You would also want to make sure your suitably protect the surrounding glass and paintwork to avoid getting this onto those areas, say with a plastic sheet or draped towels.

Hi , thanks for the reply.
Briefly, its a uk car , reg Dec 2018 , 2018 manufactured model, but pre facelift . 1 previous owner but currently owned by the selling dealer . The dealer’s boss has been using it on and off , so has been parked outside for last 2 plus years. 15k miles . The colour is patchy on the fabric, and plenty of algae around the edges of the roif and along window seals.

looks like someone jet washed it , but did a poor job .

They have agreed a full refund of deposit if im not 100% happy with the detailing so I’ll wait and see . Taking 10 days to get it major serviced by main dealer as long wait in uk ! Can’t wait to get i it .

I'd say pretty good. Remember to get the 303 fabric guard put on. I use a soft brush to get it on evenly and no overspray (not good to get on paint).

There’s two 303 fabric guards, regular or Marine, which should I order?
Im hoping the detailer would have applied something but best to get some anyway .

Some, like me, use the regular, some use the marine, claiming it is more robust. I’d say if you have easy access to the marine product, use that.
