Cams on a gen 2

Does anyone on here have a fbo car with a set of cams? If so what are your thoughts on performance and drivability? After I get longtubes and a ported 18 intake manifold I am really considering this. It may be an ok bang for the buck as I will install myself. I am a mechanic for a living so its no big deal for me to do the install. I would really love to boost my car, but right now its not really in the budget, and if I ever get that serious into it I will buy an 18+ gen 3 and go all out.
