Does anyone know if aftermarket remote start can be installed? I get the whole stick shift thing but if the car is in neutral with e-brake on and on a level surface then?

Yes. Any aftermarket kit can be use. Compustart, Viper yo name a few.

You gonna need an aftermarket canbus interface to deal with the immobilized. Some aftermarket interface devices like DEI DBall, Fortin evo-all, and iDatalink Allow the use of factory remotes to activate the alarm system, lock/unlock doors and activate remote start.
