Hi Everyone,

We just picked up our new 2017 Lightning Blue GT Convertible. At dealer prep, I noticed the front calipers looked splotchy. I just figured they were wet and would dry, or they had dried soap on them. Unfortunately, neither was the case.

Do you think this something a dealership would fix and submit a warranty claim on, or am I going to be forced to repaint them. I hate to have to do that to a car I just bought. I'd take it back to the dealership I bought it from, but they are 300 miles away.

See pics below:

Rear - Look like what I would expect

Front - Both sides look like this

I would NOT accept that, looks really bad,and now there going to rust,I wonder if they are used calipers,I bet the slides don't have any lube on them either,I would have Ford do a complete brake inspection, and change the brake fluid, that is prob contaminated also. Good luck, and be REALLY careful on that 300 mile drive with those brakes in that condition.

The rear looks painted silver.
The front look old or acid washed.
My 2015 looks nothing like those. They should be a matte lite gray.
Send these photos to your salesperson.
Tell them you are not happy.

FYI, the service manager said it was clearly from prep (and that they didn't get the wheel cleaner off quick enough).

Yeah that is a harsh wheel cleaner, glad they are replacing.
