My 68 GT has the original vinyl seat and the real chrome. You are quickly reminded of it if you touch it after it's been in the Florida sun for a bit. I am just happy my AC works! (Yes, it is the original AC setup, with a newer compressor)

Will be interested to see where it goes, 7 figures is a big number but you never know.
The red one I posted went for $950k, so I don’t think 7 figures is out of the realm.

Interesting to me that Mustang only came with vinyl in this era. Mopar had optional leather inserts. GM had optional cloth inserts in some years of Camaro. Firebird 69s could be had with leather inserts, but they are very rare. I never realized that Mopar was the upscale version of the three. Goes to show that Iococca's vision of Mustang really was a cheap car for the masses. And it worked with huge volumes of sales.

Things have changed a lot and sales are a lot lower now. I have to say that I like the upscale S550 Mustangs more than I would like if they were complete bargain basement cars, but there is more standard equipment than I prefer.
Most Mustang interiors were vinyl, with only certain packages like the Grande' (mine was a '69 Cobra Jet) having cloth insert seats. The 69 with Hopsack cloth and the 70 sporting a herringbone design. I don't think Mustang saw leather until the Fox body era (again, my 82 GT had leather). On first generation cars you had to move over to the Mercury Cougar to find leather chairs.
