Mine had this, did not realise it was a simple just as the bonnet catch causing the allignment issue, I thought it was miss-alligned on the bonnet hinges themselves which would be a much bigger nightmare to adjust.

So big thanks for posting this up, will give it a crack at weekend. :)

Mine is all sorted and was easy peasy to do. As mentioned, the dealer should sort this out but I think the least they touch the cars the better from some of the things I've seen on here so far!
Monty, mine also appeared to have a nut missing where yours was, though mine now has a matching pair as those tossy little spring washer things are rubbish! (no doubt somebody will say the nut shouldn't be there but it don't look right without). :D

Is that the Sto n Sho bracket that you have on?

Sure is, so is removed within seconds, I tend to actually leave it off and in the boot. Police don't seem so fussed so all good. :)

I would like to get one, although it will have a full size plate on it.

Need to do this myself (replace the missing nut), as you say, those washer things are terrible and you pretty much destroy them doing the fix. Don't suppose you actually know the size of the nut?

Agree the dealership should do it and I'm sure they wouldn't quibble. I was a bit wary of messing with with bonnet initially, but it's actually fairly easy and at least I know the nuts have been tightened again properly.

Do you not have camera vans? They're all over the place up here and I suspect they may go out of their way to identify a car with no front plate. Could easily be wrong though, they may not care.

Just act dumb and say you forgot to refit it after the meet you just left
Well the "meet" would be a hard sell up here but I could certainly pull off the acting dumb! I've got a Sto-n-Sho ready to go on.

Camera vans are an automated ticket issuing system for people speeding, they are designed to recognise plates, if you don't have one nothing happens. :)

Of course if I go speeding past a van with no front plate, then they will try to hunt me down and kill me. :D

I get how the vans work :) however they got people in them. Civilians with a heightened sense of importance. Wouldn't put it past them to note the back plate as it passed.
And seriously, the traffic cops up here are unbelievable. None of that "nice car, but get a front plate fitted" malarkey. It'd be "here's a ticket for the plate now let's have a look at what else you've got...".
All this said I'm very likely to try out running with the plate in the boot...

Agree the dealership should do it and I'm sure they wouldn't quibble. Whilst you might get an amusing dashcam video of them calling you a "fookin' fanny", its all a bit time consuming. I was a bit wary of messing with with bonnet initially, but it's actually fairly easy and at least I know the nuts have been tightened again properly.
I was surprised to find the stud was actually metric and not imperial, considering the US love imperial sizes... So in answer to your question, they are 6mm studs

Isn't it the VOSA/DVLA who get more excited about plates, (although the police will issue fines as well). They have their own patrols round the M25 so I wouldn't risk it down here. Could be ÂŁ1000 if they think it's deliberate.
