BLIS versus blind spot mirrors?

Am I correct in assuming that the blind spot (double) mirrors are replaced with regular mirrors (with blind spot LEDs) when BLIS is ordered?
I originally thought about adding BLIS to my order but I recently drove a dealers stock car with the regular blind spot mirrors. They adequately reflected vehicles in the blind spot areas. I have not driven a vehicle with BLIS but feel that BLIS not really needed.
$1800 is quite high to justify memory seats and the Shaker Pro speakers.

Yes Blis takes away the spotter mirrors and has a hidden warning light instead. It's kinda cool but I didn't get it. Stayed with the 400A. I'm very happy

How long have you been driving without some sort of BLIS like system? More than 5 years..... then you don't need them! JMO

The BLIS is a nice feature, I was worried it would be annoying but it doesn't bother me at all, I am not the kind to trust my car to it I still use the mirrors and the check before changing lanes. Wouldn't pay extra just to get it but don't mind having it as an add on to what I did want.

Replace the mirror glass

I wanted the 401A, but I don't personally like BLIS, the spotter mirrors give you much better information. So, with a little retrofit, you can simply buy the mirror glass subassembly of the spotter mirror and replace the BLIS mirror glass. However, you do need to take the electronic light module and keep it plugged into the mirror harness or else you'll get a DTC for BLIS system inoperative.

I like the spotter mirrors better. I'm probably going to remove the BLIS mirrors and put spotters on. The problem for me is that the time I most use the spotter mirrors is when I'm pulling out of a parallel-parking spot on a narrow one-way street and want to know if there's a car speeding up the road from 100 yards behind me that'll slam into me as soon as I pull out. BLIS doesn't help with that.
