I will order taller gears if and when I'm lucky enough to get a 6g mustang. the 3.73's get me 18-19 on the interstate at 80-85. My part time commute just went from 80 miles roundtrip to 165 once or twice a week because I moved farther away. Now the Stang stays in the garage and I take my accord to work. I will have 3.55's or 3.31's next time.

I have never gotten 400 miles per tank in any car in my life. I normally fill up around 200, somewhere between a half-tank and a quarter.

After looking at my average, 21, I'm getting about 350 in the stang per 16 gallon, so I was off by 50. My truck has 36 gallon tank which is nice when we go to the Black Hills.

Are you driving more than 400 miles per week? Normal driving should easily give you 400/tank.

I do drive 400 per week or so. But I would be thrilled if it could get 400 miles on a 16 gallon tank....my commute is 50/50 city/hiway. That would be a 25MPG average.
While I do believe it could get that on pure freeway driving at reasonable speeds, I bet is closer to 15 in the city.....? I'm thinking will be lucky to see 300 per tank average, and I have read on here that others only see 250!

Oh, I guess it's a difference in when you fill up. Learning to drive, I was always taught that running out of gas in a carbuerated car was no big deal, but that fuel injector nozzles would get destroyed by the gunk in the bottom of the gas tank, so I never let a car dip below 1/4 tank.

How often to the Black Hills??

I have 42 gallons in my truck and I can get over 500mi if I try really hard... I'm sure I will be very happy; even if I get 200mi a tank, its gonna cost like $2.00 to fill up in comparison to the $125 I spend every week and a half in the H1! :shrug:

My Jetta gets 520 miles on a tank and I only get around 40mpg.

It's going to definitely be an adjustment on that front, but oh well, BRING IT!!

Neither have I (in any car ever except an underpowered Euro diesel once) and I'm concerned with the range of the GT as well. My M6 gets 250 on a tank if I'm lucky and it sucks stopping for gas all the time on road trips. The drawback I feel with hi po versions of multi engined models cars is that they have the same tank as their slower but more fuel efficient siblings. My buddies CTS-V wagon gets 180 miles. I figure the Gt500 and Hell Cat also have rubbish ranges, making them weekend toys. Corvette OTOH can hit 400 on road trips!

Just be thankful we get a 16 gallon tank, my focus st has a 12 gallon tank. It rally doesn't get much better fuel mileage than my mustang. Maybe 4mpg better, so with such a small tank I fill up much more often in my ST than in my mustang.

I go to NJ from Boston fairly often, it's 275 miles and make it there with plenty to spare (well a little to spare) not sure I could do that in my ST
