Hi,
Still having trouble with 1st to 2nd particularly when cold. I’m waiting for courtesy cars to become available and then I’m in hopefully. I noticed there’s a class action lawsuit been filed in the US so I’m going armed with that info. I have some BG synchro shift - just wondered if it’s worth putting it in? Any experiences?

I’d hate for Ford to say I’ve invalidated the warranty by using different fluid.

The BG fluid is definitely worth it, and a lot of people are running it. You have a 2016, so your warranty should be up already, unless you bought an extended warranty.

Also, I don't see the MT-82 class action suit going very far. You're better off using good fluid and taking care of what you have, rather than worrying about some potentially impactful lawsuit that will likely take a decade to fight out in court. It's also not applicable to you, as you're in a different jurisdiction, and Ford will likely not offer a sweeping, worldwide update/recall/replacement for people who bought vehicles outside of the US.

I have an extended for three years. Just want to make sure when I take it in, they look into it properly.

I think BG will probably improve the shift. No experience of BG myself, but I had similar issues to you and changed the factory fluid for Motul Multi DCTF and the improvement was quite noticeable. I've also fitted a Boomba transmission bracket, which eliminates a lot of play. The combination seems to work pretty well. Shifting is much better. I'm happy with it now.

I have same identical issues and Ford just showed me the middle finger refusing to fix it under warranty.

It's a trait of the gearbox and unless your racing your car I can't see why it's hard to live with it. A change of oil will help but it wont eradicate it. I have driven many different manuals over 45 years and found they all have their foibles but you learn to drive around them. They are like engines , don't push them too hard til they're warm otherwise you will have problems.

BG Synchro was a revelation in my gearbox. I bought a Barton shifter at the same time but it's still sitting there in the box.

I’ll give the garage a chance to fix it because according to MT82 specialists it’s a synchro problem between 1st and 2nd. Can be fixed but if the box needs a full refund it’s about 1.4k outside Ford. It’s obviously a synchro problem not just a foible of the box. I do take your point though, still doesnt mean they’ll fix it or be inclined to try. Next service if I’ll get the tech to put in the BG and slot in a gearbox bracket at the same time.
