Easy in NL, not so much in Belgium I believe due to the modification rules for the inspection, or is that wrong?

Expensive though, as you have to order most things from the US and incur import taxes etc...

Modding in Belgium is practically impossible, unless you convert everything back to normal when you need to go to the inspection. But inspections don't look under the hood so it is mixed. The law is even so bad that you need to replace brakes for the same, you are not even allowed to put better brakes if the old ones need replacement.
Currently going for better intercooler, air intake and software mod. All are illegal (asked my insurance agent, but he is also a lover for mustang so he is quiet about it)

How would they know if you change something like brakes or air intake?

Well normally the inspection would have to know the different in factory build and upgrades (in theory, I can't believe that they would know every car model)
Well the problem begins IF you get into a car accident. Insurance company's will do everything they can to not pay for the costs so they contact a professional to look at something illegal, then the company will say we are not informed for the changes etc so it is your costs for the accident
(don't have to believe me, I'm also changing things on my car. But I'm aware of the trouble I can get into if my insurance company is getting a professional for research)

After 4 years you have to go to inspections every year.

But illegal is not entirely true.
After 4 years yes
After the 4 years you need to go every 2 years as long as your car has less then 100.000 km and no tow hook
After that it is every year

(sorry but i want it to point out clearly, not being the smartass)

They have to prove that the modification is the reason of the accident. And that is almost impossible.

I talked with a law force traffic investigator (a high one) and he said never in his career it has happen that they assume that tuning is the reason of a collusion.

They don't have to prove that (also the most common mod is software which indeed is impossible to prove), insurance companies will redraw every responsibility because you drive a car that doesn't have the correct amount of hp it has from factory build. (the way the car is build for in Belgium law) so you have to pay more insurance for more hp but before you get the insurance the insurance company will ask for papers to prove the car drives safe that way, so you need to go to Brussels pay a huge amount to conduct the testing's... (just craplaws in Belgium)
Also they don't have to prove the modification are the fault for the accident, that would be the same as a person who drives drunk but didn't cause the accident. He will always draw the short straw and pay for everything.

Here is another example:

Tell me when you are ever going to see these guys on the street again? Legal with insurance, then they payed alot or they know a hole in the law

(love these conversation's, don't get angry I know I wont if I lose the argument)

Saw a Black mustang aroud Ronse (Kwaremont) and I even thought the DRLs were fixed as they should be. Happened really fast though so couldn't be sure. Nice in Black anyway.
