Like I said before a 100lbs is a car length from a stop light. So if you enjoy looking at taillights & license plates........:amen:
Well I don't street race for one so it doesn't bother me.

I'm guessing if a base GT350 were to drag race a tech/track pack GT350 it would come down to reaction time and other driver skills.

So what if I don't own a GT350? I wanted a competition orange GT350 with the track package and no other options. None were left within a 2000 kilometer radius of me.

Dealers in Toronto were selling them for under MSRP. There are 2017s being discounted 4k off currently. The GT350 is not hot in Canada when there are so many on the lot, rotting. I know of a Ruby Red GT350R that has been sitting on the lot for at least 3 months now.
Yeah I would imagine that the ones here will be discounted come spring time as well since there are 2016's left over still. The point is, its bullshit to say you could walk in and get 3K under MSRP a year ago when the cars were FIRST hitting the lots. Unless you are like Family with a dealer or got some special discount (ie. military for example), you weren't getting one for under MSRP.

And yeah, there are only going to be 120 or so GT350R's across Canada between 16' and 17' model years... don't expect to see that one go under MSRP anytime soon lol it will stay there until someone pays whatever crazy ADM they have on it.

In Ontario, a base GT350 was $62,599. That's what I paid, plus got a free car cover valued at $475.00 in the deal. A Track or Tech pack was an extra $8000.00 or so + extra taxes on that amount. Like I said before, the Base GT350 was the best bang for the bucks in 2016.
So why does every road test magazine give you straight line 0-60 mph performance times if it does matter? :headbonk:
Magazines also test 1/4 mile times.

I didn't want to spend 8K on 4 Magride shocks & couple oil coolers. By the way, those shocks are now standard on Chevy/GMC pickup truck:headbang:
Because they are called Instrumented tests for a reason. :headbonk:

Direct quote from from CarandDriver:

"The base GT350 reaches 60 mph in 4.3 seconds after a somewhat difficult launch and does the quarter-mile in 12.5 seconds at 117 mph. Perhaps not stunning numbers these days, but the test car did weigh 3796 pounds. With its 18-pound carbon-fiber wheels and stickier Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, the R (at 3710 pounds) makes it to 60 in 3.9 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds at 119 mph. Guess what? Porsche 911 GT3 drivers don’t jump up and down about drag-strip times. Stats that matter to them more are skidpad grip and braking distances. There, the 350 and 350R pull 0.98 g and a startling 1.10 g, while stopping from 70 mph in 152 feet and 146 feet. Ford’s priorities become clear when you check the track-sheet data.

You can argue all you want that it was the best "bang for your buck", but at the end of the day it was built as a road course machine, which the base and tech can't do because of overheating. So you paid 63K and tax, almost double the price of a GT, to get a different engine and transmission essentially. Even another $6500 for the Track Pack would have gotten you all the coolers, Mag shocks, spoiler, etc. all things that aren't even optional on lower Mustangs.

And yeah, Mag shocks are going to be seen on lots of vehicles in the future and become more common, because they are better in every way... Nobody is harping on the fact that its a base or your decision, but this blind stubborn theory that you have that it is the best buy or faster because of less than 100 lbs difference is absurd. Nothing is "best bang for your buck" when the car can't even do what it was designed to do without overheating, sorry.

I'm starting to think this guy may be retarded. Somehow thinks that with the same power, trans, tires, etc. that less than 100lbs advantage is going to win him the race.... driver's race 100% of the time. Whoever can launch better will win, every god dam time.

Come on bro, all else being equal, 100lbs less wins the keyboard race all day and twice on Sunday. Plus if the mag says its faster that is all that matters

I'm not going to say that guy has this problem but sometimes people who go with less need to justify it to themselves. Their way of justifying it is typically "Not as much can go wrong" or "It's lighter" or "I don't need all those extras".If they are truly happy with their decision, not sure why they feel the need to defend it. Sometimes subconsciously they are not happy with their decision.

Me crazy, and I can't help myself
I don't have any issue with a base car, i agree that its tremendous value, but sounds like he is trying to convince himself that not only was it good value but that somehow its a better performer as well. Also i think he just likes the sound of his own voice and repeating himself. If you don't believe me try telling him that a turbo kit is better than a pro charger

^All of these. I'm guessing he's not retarded, but just young and cocky (I hope) is my guess. Not that it is a great excuse to put aside common sense.

I'm sorry, but if this true, than I'm even more confused by some of your responses.

Most people are not nearly that good to exploit this small advantage. If you are, more power to you.
